About
I was born and raised in Texas in the Rio Grande Valley.
I attended the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley for my B.S. in Biology with a minor in Geology. I received my teaching training and certifications through the UTeach program.
I was a high school science teacher for two years (mostly teaching Physics) and implemented a project-based learning approach to my teaching.
I have returned to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley for my M.S. in Ocean, Coastal, and Earth Sciences focusing on physical oceanic processes in the Gulf of Mexico.
I am able to code in Python and Unix and have some experience with R and Matlab. I am familiar with models such as HYCOM, CESM, LFN, and Infomap. I am also capable of using design platforms like LaTeX.

I currently have one dog (Buddy), two cats (Tali and Shelby), and four horses (Jazz, Lily, Rocky, and Maya) and I love them dearly.
Some of my hobbies include running, yoga, weightlifting, billiards, stand-up paddleboarding, rollerskating, photography, watercolor painting, and playing my flute.
